On July 4, 1996, the principals of this firm declared their independence
from their former employers and commenced a practice concentrating in
the trial of contested matters before the Superior and Federal Courts
of New Jersey. Senior Partner, Daniel S. Jahnsen picked a jury on the
firm’s first day of business and within a month, he and Managing
Partner, Terrence J. Bolan had tried seven cases to verdict. The Firm
finished its first full year trying over 30 cases to verdict and
amassing a winning percentage exceeding ninety percent. (Bolan was the
first to lose - - Dan made sure that got in here)
Over our first six years, the firm grew to ten attorneys and tried nearly
two hundred cases to verdict. Since then, our firm has expanded into
Pennsylvania and New York City. We hired attorneys with a wide range
of experience, including working for some of the largest and most prestigious
law firms in the Tri State area, clerking for Superior Court judges,
working as in-house counsel for insurance companies and even working
in the United States Congress and White House. Our attorneys’ diverse
practical experience makes Bolan Jahnsen Dacey one of the most well
respected law firms in the State. (Just ask any member of our firm).
The firm’s philosophy is simple: give the client the product, make
it cost efficient by focusing not on counting your minutes, but on making
your minutes count. We have learned how to focus the discovery process
and discern what discovery is needed to obtain the desired results and
what is unnecessary, superfluous “over preparation” often
done by lawyers who rarely try cases. (Sometimes less is more for the
defense). We abhor “litigating”, a process whereby “litigators” engage
in a never ending, often useless and always environmentally unfriendly
discovery process only to then recommend a late increase in reserves.
While sometimes “litigating” is unavoidable (multi-defendant
cases involving “litigators” are a fact of life), we always
manage to provide excellent, cost efficient results to our insurance
clients. (Our web site would be fancier if we billed more)
